Ken Swanton

Ken joined the Solutionz Board in 2006. He is involved in a number of business startup projects in the travel and hospitality industries. In addition to Solutionz, he is currently on the advisory boards of Agentware, NoBarriers, KDS, Leisurelink, ResExpo and Global Travel International.


Ken was previously the CEO of Lowestfare.com, a $500 million online travel company that was owned by Carl Icahn. The intent was to take the company public, a goal that was thwarted when TWA declared bankruptcy. He also led Internet Travel Network (ITN) as CEO. The company later became GetThere.com, which was acquired by AMR in 2000.


He also held various executive positions at Carlson Wagonlit Travel including EVP and General Manager of CWT Leisure Travel as well as EVP and General Manager of CWT Corporate/Government Travel. Ken got his start in the industry as the owner of John Austin Travel in Canada, which consisted of multiple corporate and retail office locations, a meeting and incentive travel business and a wholesale travel company. He sold the business to Carlson Companies and was subsequently asked to move to Minneapolis.


Ken graduated from the University of Waterloo in Ontario with a BSC in Mathematics and Physics. He also completed all course work for a MSC in Operations Research from the University of Waterloo as well as an MBA from the University of Toronto.


He and his wife reside on the east coast of Florida.
