Jan Doerter has been
working with Solutionz on a consulting basis off and on for more than a decade
in between corporate roles. She is
an industry and travel technology veteran, with over 30 years experience in the
travel industry covering people, operations, project and product management.
Jan
was most recently the Strategic Global Account Manager for Travelport’s largest
corporate account. From 2003-2008 she was employed with American
Express where her initial responsibility was for the development and
implementation of Travelbahn, a multi-GDS agent platform. During her tenure
with American Express her responsibilities were expanded to include leading the
GDS Management Team, setting distribution strategy for the Americas and
managing global GDS relationships.
Before joining American Express, she worked as an independent consultant for
three years in all aspects of travel and travel distribution – online and
offline. In this role she has been the senior consultant, project manager
and subject matter expert for Walt Disney Travel Company, Ernst & Young and
for IBM’s e-Business National Practice, in addition to her work with Solutionz.
Her
client portfolio included Intel, Carlson, Wingate Hotels, Hertz, Starwood
Hotels, General Motors and LasVegas.com. In these engagements she was
responsible for customer briefings, project estimates, proposal support,
requirements gathering, high-level user interface and use case documents and
the subject matter expert on travel and the GDS. She also established
relationships with call center and fulfillment partners, managed the
development of user test scripts and implementation of the complete fulfillment
process. Many of these projects included coordinating the work efforts of
other companies’ resources involved in providing the technology behind the end
product solution.
Prior to venturing out on her own, Jan worked as a senior project manager for
Team BCA (now a part of Datalex). In that role she managed the development and
implementation teams for customized airline sales force automation and customer
relationship management tools. Her client portfolio consisted of South
African Airways, Varig, Emirates and Delta.
During her 10 years of GDS experience with Worldspan, she held various
management positions in technical architecture, consulting, quality assurance,
product management, technical support and training. Her travel agency
management experience spans 8 years in various roles, including general manager
of several large Kansas City area travel agencies.
Jan has a BA in Business Management from Kennesaw State University and attended
the University of Kansas. She is a lifetime member of the Institute of
Certified Travel Agents, a member of Coleman Research Group’s Executive Forum
and a past member of the IATA Technical Working Group. Jan currently
resides in Chandler Arizona.
